We chat with Amol Nayak, Architect, about his love for automobiles.
What are you driving and why?Â
My everyday car is generally a Mazda MX-5, which I also use on night drives. On the weekends, however, I drive my 1956 Mercedes-Benz Ponton, my 1940 LaSalle coupé or my 1956 Fiat 1100.
What’s next on your wish list?
Some version of the Porsche 911.
The most fun you’ve had in a car?
I enjoy endurance driving in my vintage and classic cars. The uncertainty of not knowing when the next breakdown might happen gives me a high!Â
Favourite / Dream money-no-object car?
It’s either the Lamborghini Miura or the Countach.Â
Who is your all time greatest motorsport hero?
Sir Sterling Moss, for his Mille Miglia escapades that I dream to emulate.Â
Favourite road?Â
Recently, I went driving from Coimbatore to Chennai through Kerala in my 1956 Fiat 1100. I enjoyed every bit of the ride of about 2,000km.Â
What’s on your automotive bucket list?Â
Any exotic super car! I would love to have a Lamborghini from the ’70s or ’80s.Â
What would you do with your last litre of fuel?
Use it before it goes bad!Â
Your ideal 5 car garage would be?
Lamborghini CountachÂ
De Tomaso Pantera
Mercedes-Benz 300 SLRÂ
