Maruti will announce prices for the Fronx by April this year; bookings are already open.
Maruti Suzuki has unveiled two new models at the Auto Expo – the new Baleno-based Fronx SUV-coupe and the much-awaited 5-door Jimny SUV. The new Maruti Suzuki Fronx will go on sale in April this year and bookings are already underway.
Importantly, it brings back a turbo-petrol engine to Maruti’s line-up since the discontinuation of the Baleno RS. The Maruti Fronx will be available in five trims – Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta and Alpha. We take a close look at what features are offered in each trim.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: variant break-up, engine details
The new Fronx is one of the very few Maruti models to be offered with two engine options – there’s a new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol Boosterjet engine as well as the existing 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, both offered with Maruti’s mild-hybrid tech. The former produces 100hp and 147.6Nm while the latter continues to produce 90hp and 113Nm.
The turbo-petrol engine is offered with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, while the NA petrol engine gets a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
The 1.2 NA engine is offered on the first three trims – Sigma, Delta and Delta+. The manual gearbox is standard on all three trims, while the AMT gearbox can be had on the Delta and Delta+ trims. The 1.0 turbo engine will be offered on the Delta+, Zeta and Alpha trims. Again, the manual standard on all trims while the AT gearbox is available on Zeta and Alpha trims.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: rivals
Maruti already has a compact crossover/SUV in the Brezza, but this will be the first compact crossover under the brand’s Nexa chain. With prices expected to be similar to the Brezza, the Fronx will rival the likes of the other compact SUVs like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and more.
