Malayalam Films Thadavu And Family Selected In The International Competition Category Of Kerala’s 28th IFFK –


The IFFK is scheduled for December.


The International Film Festival of Kerala, inaugurated in 1996, is organized by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, under the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala.

The 28th International Kerala Film Festival (IFFK) is set to take place in December, and it has already generated substantial excitement and anticipation. The festival is renowned for its celebration of world cinema and its commitment to showcasing exceptional films from various genres and regions. Two outstanding Malayalam films have been selected for the prestigious International Competition category at this year’s IFFK—namely, Family and Thadavu.

Family, a Malayalam film directed by Don Palathara, features a talented cast that includes Vinay Forrt, Mathew Thomas, Divya Prabha, Nilja K Baby, and Abhija Sivakala. The film’s screenplay, written by Sherin Catherine, delves into intricate familial dynamics and relationships

Thadavu, another noteworthy Malayalam film, is directed by Fazil Razak and boasts a cast comprising Bina R Chandran, Subramaniam, Anita MN, Wapu, and Ishaq Muzaffar. This film, produced under FR Productions and Bunch of Coconuts, explores a unique narrative, complemented by Vysakh Somnath’s music composition.

The IFFK has also curated a special selection of Malayalam films for its Malayalam Cinema Today Category. This will feature a total of 12 Malayalam films, offering audiences a diverse array of cinematic experiences. Notably, eight of these films are the creations of debut directors, highlighting the industry’s commitment to nurturing fresh talent.

The selected films for the Malayalam Cinema Today category include:

Now and Forever directed by Shalini Ushadevi.

Five First Dates directed by Rinoshun K.

Neelamudi directed by Sarathkumar V.

Apple Chedikal directed by Gagan Dev.

B 32 Muthal 44 Vare directed by Shruthi Sharanyam.

Scheherzade directed by Vignesh P Sashidharan.

Aattam directed by Anand Ekarshi.

Daayam directed by Prashanth Vijay.

O Baby was directed by Ranjan Pramod.

Kaathal was directed by Geo Baby.

Anand Monalisa Maranavum Kathu directed by Satheesh and Santosh Babusenan.

Valasai Paravakal directed by Suniel Kudamaloor.

The International Film Festival of Kerala, inaugurated in 1996, is organized by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, under the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. The festival’s competition category features films from Asia, Africa, and Latin America, providing a platform for diverse cinematic voices.
