Mahindra’s first EV SUV will be loaded with features like connected car tech, sunroof and six airbags in the top-spec variant.
Mahindra unveiled the all-electric XUV400 a couple of months ago, which is based on the XUV300 compact SUV. Ahead of its launch in January 2023, we have the details of the variants that will likely be on offer. The XUV400 EV will come in a total of three variants.

Mahindra XUV400 EV: expected variant list and features
The XUV400 variants are likely to be called Base, EP and EL. While a detailed features break-up is not known at the moment, the top-spec variant will get features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Mahindra’s Adreno X software, single-pane sunroof and connected car technology with over-the-air (OTA) updates. In terms of safety, it gets six airbags, all-round disc brakes and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. Expect more details about features across all three variants to be revealed closer to the EV’s launch.
Mahindra XUV400 EV: powertrain and performance details
The XUV400 gets a 39.4kWh battery pack that sends power to the front-axle-mounted electric motor that makes 150hp and 310Nm of peak torque. Mahindra says that the XUV400 can sprint from 0-100kph in 8.3 seconds, making it the quickest in its class and it has a top speed of 150kph.
The XUV400 EV has a claimed range of up to 456km on a single charge as per MIDC. When plugged to a 50kW DC fast charger, the XUV400 can charge from 0-80 percent in 50 minutes.
The EV SUV also features three driving modes – Fun, Fast and Fearless – which adjust the steering and throttle response as well as the level of regenerative braking.
Mahindra XUV400 EV: launch and pricing details
Although Mahindra is yet to announce the exact date, the pricing for the XUV400 EV will be revealed in January 2023. We expect the prices to be in the region of Rs 18 lakh-20 lakh (ex-showroom), and when launched, it will take on the Tata Nexon EV Max.
The XUV400 is the first of Mahindra’s upcoming EV onslaught which will also include the XUV.e and BE range from 2024.
