Mahindra XUV300 price, XUV300 facelift, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet rival

XUV300 facelift will be squarely aimed at the updated Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon.

Mahindra will announce prices for the long-awaited XUV300 facelift in February 2024, Autocar India can confirm. The facelifted SUV’s debut will follow the launch of the updated XUV400 EV, which will go on sale in January.

  1. XUV300 to get major styling overhaul
  2. Entire line-up to get more features and tech
  3. XUV300 EV coming by June 2024

With the XUV300 facelift, Mahindra will be aiming to increase its presence in the competitive compact SUV market that recently saw the launch of the heavily updated Nexon. The XUV300 will also take on the refreshed Kia Sonet, which will go on sale in January.

Mahindra XUV300 facelift: styling inspired by BE SUVs

In order to keep up with the heavily updated Nexon and the upcoming Sonet facelift, the Mahindra XUV300 facelift will get a major styling overhaul, especially to its front and rear. Styling cues are inspired heavily by Mahindra’s BE line-up of SUVs that will go on sale in 2025.

These tweaks include a more angular nose along with a completely redesigned drop-down LED daytime running lamp. This also hints at a revised bumper and headlamp assembly, and will be a new two-part grille with a larger central air intake as well.

At the back, it will get a completely redesigned tailgate that’ll likely feature a full-width LED light bar. The surfacing of the tailgate is smoother, the tail-lamps appear sleeker and C-shaped, and the registration plate is now housed on the bumper instead of on the tailgate. It will also have a new set of alloy wheels, although we do not expect any major changes in profile.

New 6-speed TC gearbox for 1.2 TGDI engine

The XUV300 facelift will come with an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic (torque converter) with the most powerful 131hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (TGDI) engine. It is the same unit that does duty in the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus with their 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines. The other two engines will continue using the 6-speed manual and automated manual transmission options.

The current crop of engines – a 1.5-litre diesel, 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol (TGDI) – that received emissions-related upgrades for BS6 Stage II norms will continue as is.

Mahindra XUV300 facelift new features

Apart from styling tweaks, the XUV300 facelift will see feature additions like a segment-first panoramic sunroof and a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen. There will not be ADAS or a 360-degree camera on offer, sources tell us.

Mahindra XUV300 EV incoming too

The XUV300 facelift will also get an EV iteration that will sit below the XUV400 EV. Just like the standard facelifted model that will rival the Nexon, the electric version of the XUV300 will be aimed as a more competitive alternative to the new Nexon EV, and will go on sale by June 2024.
