It will also get a larger, floating touchscreen that’ll likely be shared with the 5-door Thar.

The Mahindra XUV300 facelift has been spied testing once again on our roads, revealing new details of the production-spec model. The previously sighted test mule was largely wearing temporary parts, but this latest sighting hints at a front- and rear-end design that’s likely inspired by the BE SUV concepts. We also get a first glimpse of interior of the XUV300 facelift, so let’s take a closer look.

  1. First mid-life cycle update since launch in 2019
  2. XUV300 facelift to get BE SUV concept-inspired styling
  3. Expected to remain mechanically unchanged

The test mule is heavily camouflage, but the drop-down LED daytime running lamp, which is still visible through the camouflage, has been completely redesigned. This also hints at a redesigned bumper and headlamp assembly, and there’s a new two-part grille with a larger central air intake as well. The XUV300 is expected to have a closer family resemblance to the XUV700, and also the upcoming BE range, especially at the rear.

Speaking of which, it gets a completely redesigned tailgate that’ll likely feature a full-width LED light bar, as we have seen on the BE concepts. The surfacing of the tailgate is smoother, the tail lamps appear sleeker and C-shaped, and the registration plate is now housed on the bumper instead of on the tailgate. It will also have a new set of alloy wheels, although we do not expect any major changes in profile.

A first glimpse of the XUV300 facelift interior reveals an all-new floating touchscreen unit. Currently, the XUV300 gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen that’s integrated in the dashboard, but this new screen seems much larger, and the AC vents that used to flank the screen have now moved below it. This screen could also be shared with the upcoming 5-door Thar. There could also be a redesigned centre console, new switchgear and possibly, a full-digital instrument cluster as well.

There could also be updates to the equipment list as it currently misses out on features such as ventilated seats and a wireless charger, which are offered by rivals.

Mahindra XUV300 facelift powertrain options

Under the hood, the XUV300 facelift is expected to continue with its existing 110hp and 131hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol units, as well as the 117hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. It remains to be seen if Mahindra carries forward the gearbox options unchanged or if the AMT is replaced by a more sophisticated gearbox. Rivals in this segment already offer DCTs, torque converters and CVTs.

Mahindra XUV300 facelift expected launch and rivals

The XUV300 facelift is expected to launch sometime next year, and will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza, among others. In this segment, the Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet are also due to receive their own mid-life cycle updates, the former launching in just a couple of weeks’ time, while the latter is expected to arrive early next year.
