Spy shots suggest a new family look that’s in line with the larger XUV700; could get an updated infotainment system.
Mahindra has begun testing a mid-lifecycle facelift for the XUV300, as reported by us previously. Although the launch is not expected anytime soon – it will only arrive sometime in 2024 – we have now got our clearest sighting yet of the updated SUV. As before, the test mule continues to be heavily wrapped in camouflage, but it hints at a majorly updated design for the front and rear. We expect major changes to the interior as well, although it’s going to remain mechanically unchanged.

Mahindra XUV300 facelift: what to expect?
The XUV300 facelift is still in its early stages of testing, and the spied test mule still dons temporary headlamps and tail-lamps. However, the updated SUV is expected to borrow design cues such as the C-shaped LED headlamps from the XUV700, and perhaps even bear some resemblance to the XUV.e concepts.
This could result in a completely revised front end with a new two-part grille, as can be seen in the spy image, and a larger central air intake. At the rear, the XUV300 facelift is expected to get an all-new tail gate, a new bumper with re-positioned number plate housing and new tail-lamps, as suggested by previous spy shots. As is typical with facelifts, the updated XUV300 will remain largely unchanged in profile save for a new design for the alloy wheels.
And while pictures of the interior aren’t out yet, there are talks of a revamped dashboard design, more equipment and an upgraded infotainment screen, among others. The XUV300’s interior has started showing its age, with features like a wireless charger, ventilated seats and digital driver’s display missing.
Importantly, the XUV300 will continue to be differentiated from the all-electric XUV400, which measures slightly longer than 4 metres.
Mahindra XUV300 facelift powertrain options
Under the hood, the XUV300 facelift is expected to continue with its existing 110hp and 131hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol units, as well as the 117hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. It remains to be seen if Mahindra carries forward the gearbox options unchanged or if the AMT is replaced by a torque converter – most of its rivals offer more sophisticated automatic transmissions.
Mahindra XUV300 facelift expected launch and rivals
The XUV300 facelift is expected to launch sometime next year, and will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet and Maruti Brezza among others. In this segment, the Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet are also due to receive their own mid-lifecycle updates by August this year.
