Facelift to get more features and a panoramic sunroof.
Mahindra is gearing up to launch a mid-life update of the XUV300. As we’ve reported earlier, it will sport enhanced styling on the outside, and while its interiors are likely to remain largely similar, it will feature a larger, more modern touchscreen infotainment, and it could also feature a digital instrument cluster. But what’s likely to significantly boost its premium quotient is the addition of a segment-first panoramic sunroof. And we now have confirmation that it will get a new automatic transmission.

Mahindra XUV300 facelift: engine options, new automatic gearbox
To make it more appealing, Mahindra is looking to introduce the updated XUV300 with an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic (torque converter), which is likely to replace the 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). The new transmission is likely to be far smoother than the AMT and improve the drive experience.
Mahindra is likely to continue to power the XUV300 with the same engine options, which include a 110hp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, a 131hp 1.2-litre direct injection turbo-petrol and a 117hp 1.5-litre diesel engine. However, we still don’t have confirmation of whether the automatic will be introduced with the turbo-petrols or diesel or across the board.
Aisin has been supplying its 6-speed automatic transmission to Mahindra starting with the now-discontinued XUV500, followed by the XUV700 and Scorpio N in different iterations. Even, Maruti sources its 6-speed automatic gearbox from the Japanese component manufacturer to do duty in cars like the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, XL6 and Grand Vitara. Other vehicles which use the Aisin 6-speeder are Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus with their 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines, and even MG sources its automatic for the Astor Turbo.
Mahindra XUV300 facelift launch
Mahindra is likely to launch the XUV300 facelift in the first half of 2024, and it will rival other compact SUVs like the updated Kia Sonet, which will be introduced in the first quarter of 2024, Tata Nexon facelift, as well as the Hyundai Venue and Maruti Brezza.
