Mahindra Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic, pending bookings, waiting period, deliveries -DellyRanks

Mahindra has announced that it has 2.20 lakh open orders for its SUV line-up as of May 1, 2024. Of this, the Scorpio range (Scorpio N and Classic combined) has the highest pending orders of 86,000 units. Overall order backlog is a marginal reduction from 2.26 lakh units that Mahindra reported in last quarter; the Scorpio range, however, sees a more significant drop in pending orders from 1.01 lakh units.

At its latest earnings call, Mahindra announced that it receives 17,000 bookings on average per month for the Scorpio N and Classic combined. The company, however, has managed to reduce wait times on the Scorpio N considerably – it is currently at a maximum of 3-5 months for both petrol and diesel variants, down from a maximum of 9 months from end of 2023.

Waiting period on the Scorpio Classic is also up to a maximum of 5 months, although this has remained relatively unchanged from the previous quarter. Mahindra, however, did not reveal the exact split of pending orders between the N and the Classic. Other popular SUVs such as the Thar and the XUV700 have a pending orders of 59,000 and 16,000 units, respectively.

The Mahindra Scorpio N is on sale with two engine options – a 203hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 175hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both have 6-speed manual or automatic transmission options, though only the diesel engine gets the option of 4WD. The Scorpio N is priced between Rs 13.60 lakh-24.54 lakh. The Scorpio Classic is powered by a 132hp, 300Nm, 2.2-litre diesel engine that is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox; there’s no automatic or 4WD option. Currently, Scorpio Classic prices range between Rs 13.59 lakh-17.35 lakh, all prices ex-showroom India.
