Mahesh Babu’s father, Krishna, succumbed to multiple organ failure at the age of 79.
On Wednesday, Telugu actor Mahesh Babu marked the first death anniversary of his father, the late superstar Krishna Ghattamaneni. The Ghattamaneni family, including Mahesh’s wife Namrata Shirodkar and son Gautham Ghattamaneni, honoured attended a remembrance event held in Hyderabad in the late actor’s honour.
Mahesh Babu’s wife Namrata Shirodkar posted a photo from the remembrance meet on her Instagram and wrote, “We miss you, Mamayya Garu, and you will always remain in our thoughts and prayers. May your soul continue to rest in peace, and may we honour your memory by spreading the same love and warmth you graciously gave to us.”
Mahesh Babu took to X (formerly Twiiter) and wrote, “Superstar, always and forever.”
Krishna succumbed to multiple organ failure at the age of 79. The recipient of the Padma Bhushan award, he is renowned for pioneering the first cinemascope film, the inaugural cowboy movie, and the initial 70-mm film in Telugu cinema throughout his illustrious five-decade career.
On the work front, Mahesh Babu is marking a return to the big screen with Guntur Karam after almost two years. This masala action film is expected to be a major celebration for Mahesh Babu’s fans during the upcoming Sankranti festival. The cast of Guntur Kaaram underwent some changes, initially with Pooja Hegde stepping out of the project, and Sreeleela taking her place. Meenakshi Chaudhary also joined the cast later on.
His last release, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, alongside Keerthi Suresh, received mixed reviews from critics. It became the third-highest-grossing Telugu language movie of 2022 in terms of box office revenue. Additionally, he is set to play the leading role in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film, tentatively titled SSMB29. This movie is described as a jungle adventure rooted in Indian mythology, particularly the story of Lord Hanuman. The filming is scheduled to begin in April 2024.
