The 14,000 square-feet facility on Lavelle Road in Bengaluru will support the its growing workforce and continued hybrid workforce strategy in the country, according to a statement.
“Since the onset of the pandemic, we have seen increased demand from our customers across all selling channels, and we continue to invest in our omni-channel capabilities as we accelerate our online business and drive momentum with our Total Home Strategy,” said Seemantini Godbole, Lowe’s executive vice president and chief information officer.
Lowe’s India associate count has grown 60 percent during the Covid-19 pandemic to more than 3,600 employees across both technology and business services roles.
The jobs will be across fields such as engineering, analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, product management, and merchandising.
This comes as the Covid-19 pandemic, related visa and travel issues and the recent Ukraine-Russia crisis have resulted in jobs flowing to captive centres in India.

According to Deloitte, India is home to global capability centres of more than 1,300 global organisations, employing more than 1.3 million people. Lowe’s joins companies like 3M, Airbnb, Coinbase, Ikea that recently opened global capability centres in India.
