Lowers Cholesterol

Flaxseeds are known to lower cholesterol levels. As per a 2018 study submitted to the National Library of Medicine, it was found that people who ate four tablespoons of flaxseeds every day saw a decrease in their bad cholesterol levels (LDL) levels by 15 per cent after a month.

A tablespoon of flaxseeds contains 5-8 per cent of fibre which is the daily recommended intake. It has two types of fibre- soluble and insoluble- which support your gut health and improve bowel regularity. The fibre content helps in regulating the blood sugar levels in the body and lowers cholesterol. The insoluble fibre adds bulk to the stool and prevents constipation.

It has been found that flaxseeds contain 75-800 times lignan, a plant compound known for its cancer-fighting properties.
