Rajinikanth will star in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie.
Coolie director Lokesh Kanagaraj addressed the press and confirmed that the shoot had no impact on Rajinikanth’s health.
Megastar Rajinikanth has been discharged from a Chennai hospital after having successfully undergone an elective procedure, during which a stent was placed near his lower abdominal area. The procedure was carried out by a team of three specialty doctors in a cath lab. He is now recuperating at home.
While fans were concerned if the shooting of his upcoming film Coolie had any bearing on his health, director Lokesh Kanagaraj addressed the press to clear the air. He confirmed that the shoot had no impact on Rajinikanth’s health, explaining that the actor was hospitalised in Chennai, while the Coolie team was busy shooting in Vizag. Lokesh reassured fans that Rajinikanth is recovering well, saying that the superstar’s health takes priority over the film’s timeline.
Lokesh said, “Rajini sir is recovering well, I spoke to him over the phone. I want to clarify something. He informed the team around forty days ago that he would undergo treatment. So, it’s sad to see false news spread on social media. Ultimately, Rajini sir’s health is more important than shooting for Coolie. If he had any discomfort on sets, we would’ve cancelled shooting, and the entire unit would’ve been by his side at the hospital. It was disheartening to see such falsehood being peddled by YouTubers.”
As per the statement released by the hospital, he a blood vessel swelling. “Mr Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, on 30th September 2024. He had a swelling in the main blood vessel leaving his heart (aorta), which was treated by a non surgical, transcathether method. Senior interventional Cardiologist, Dr Sai Satish placed a stent in the aorta completely sealing off the swelling (Endovascular Repair),” it read.
Before his hospitalisation, Rajinikanth wowed fans at the audio launch of his highly anticipated film Vettaiyan. His appearance stole the show, especially when he broke into his iconic dance moves, leaving the crowd in awe. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan is set for release on October 10 and has been creating a strong buzz ever since its official preview dropped.
