Live! The Economic Times Startup Awards 2022

A thought-provoking and insightful panel discussion with moderator Samidha Sharma brought to light the troubles being faced by startups – not just in India but everywhere – and how the next few months will be more difficult for startups.

There was a sense of broad consensus that unit economics need to be taken into consideration, valuations must be lowered and the focus must be on restructuring the business to survive the tech winter.

The guests have started coming in.

First up, we have the panel discussion comprising Nithin Kamath, founder and CEO of Zerodha; Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart Group; Harsh Jain, cofounder and CEO, Dream Sports; Sumer Juneja, managing partner, India & EMEA, SoftBank Investment Advisers, and Smita Deorah, cofounder and co-CEO of edtech unicorn Lead, who will discuss the current state of the startup and technology economy amid a highly uncertain period for the industry globally.

They will assess the impact of what is perhaps the first big downturn in over two decades for the technology world after the dotcom bust of 1999-2000.

After months of anticipation, the day is finally here when the biggest and brightest stars of the Indian startup universe will be crowned in Bengaluru at the eighth edition of The Economic Times Startup Awards 2022.

Union Cabinet Ministers Piyush Goyal and Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai will be the guests of honour at a glittering ceremony.

A high-powered panel comprising startup founders, CEOs, and investors will discuss how companies can balance profitability with growth amid the ongoing tech downturn, the biggest the world has seen since the dotcom crash of 2000.
