List of government schemes for farmers: PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Kisan Credit Card, PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana

List of announced government welfare programs for farmers.

Farming is a major occupation in India, where 60% of people work in agriculture and related fields. The majority of farmers in India are small and marginal farmers with land holdings of less than 2 hectares.

List of government programs that have helped farmers:

PMFBY: The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana The goal of the 2016-launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is to provide farmers with access to affordable crop insurance. In the event that calamities, pests, or diseases cause crop loss or damage, this program provides farmers with financial assistance.

PM’s Samman Nidhi Program: PM Modi launched the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in 2019 to provide income support to all landholder farmer families in India with cultivable land, with some exceptions. The PM Kisan Scheme directs Rs 6,000 per year into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts in three, four-monthly installments of Rs 2,000 each. As part of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, PM Modi distributed the 13th installment—worth more than Rs 16,000 crore—through direct benefit transfer on February 27. However, there are some beneficiary farmers who have not received their 13th PM KISAN payment, and these are the channels through which they can file complaints.

Soil Health Card Plan: In 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Soil Health Card program, which aims to advance soil testing and improve soil health nationwide. The primary objective of the program is to equip farmers with the information they need about the nutrient status of their soil in order to enable them to make well-informed choices regarding nutrient management strategies.

PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana: The national government program known as the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana was launched in 2015 with the intention of providing farmers all over the country with comprehensive irrigation solutions. The primary objectives of the program are to increase the amount of cultivable land irrigated, the effectiveness of agricultural water use, and the use of precision irrigation technologies.
