LinkedIn set to increase generative AI use to craft and share posts


LinkedIn is increasing the utilization of generative AI on its platform. According to a company representative, individuals will soon have the ability to utilize AI for swiftly composing posts that they can subsequently share with their network as updates.


According to Keren Baruch, the Director of Product at LinkedIn, the company is currently experimenting with a feature that allows members to directly utilize generative AI within the LinkedIn share box. 

He shared a LinkedIn post and mentioned that this upcoming feature aims to assist users in efficiently composing posts on the platform, as this task can often be demanding and time-consuming.

As per Baruch’s post on the platform, LinkedIn is set to introduce a feature where users can employ generative AI to create a first draft of their posts. Users will need to provide a minimum of 30 words outlining the main idea of their post, and the AI chatbot will generate an initial draft based on that input. Users will have the opportunity to review and edit the draft before posting it online. 

Keren Baruch emphasized the importance of responsible AI and mentioned that LinkedIn will carefully test this experience before making it available to all members.

In a previous update, LinkedIn introduced an AI-powered tool that suggests different versions of ad copies. This tool utilizes data from the marketer’s LinkedIn page and Campaign Manager settings, leveraging OpenAI models to generate multiple options for introductory text in ads. Marketers can input their copy into the Campaign Manager’s “introductory text” box and enable the “Generate copy suggestions” toggle to receive various suggestions.

LinkedIn has implemented generative AI capabilities to generate content for user profiles and job descriptions. The testing of this tool commenced in March, and the company plans to make it available to all LinkedIn Premium subscribers. 

The AI tool scans user profiles to gather information about their skills and experiences and then generates a draft based on that data. Tomer Cohen, the chief product officer at LinkedIn, highlighted that the tool ensures authenticity by utilizing the content that already exists on a user’s profile.
