The RSV4 Trenta is being developed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Aprilia’s first world championship title.
A limited-edition Aprilia RSV4 Trenta has been spied testing overseas and its launch is likely around the corner. This model is being developed to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Aprilia’s first world championship title.
Aprilia RSV4 Trenta: MotoGP-derived aero
The most noticeable difference visually over the regular RSV4 range is the implementation of an aerodynamic appendage – nicknamed the ‘spoon’ due to its scooped-out shape – that is derived straight from Aprilia’s MotoGP weapon, the RS-GP22. This aerodynamic aid sits ahead of the rear wheel and helps direct airflow, thus improving stability.
This test bike was spotted with a full-system SC Project racing exhaust, which will likely be on offer when Aprilia does launch the Trenta. While this particular machine doesn’t feature any road-going necessities, this could change at the time of its launch and Aprilia might offer the Trenta as a road-legal machine with a track-only kit (much like MV Agusta’s RC range). Another distinct possibility is that it is offered as a track-only bike, much like the track-only 225hp, 165kg (dry) RSV4 X, (10 units manufactured to commemorate 10 years of the RSV4) launched a few years back.
It is hard to say whether or not the engine receives any bump in performance, but at the very least it will get a corresponding map to suit the racing exhaust. Suspension and braking hardware seems to be carried over unchanged from the RSV4 Factory.
Aprilia RSV4 Trenta: racing pedigree
This special-edition of the RSV4 will be manufactured by the Aprilia Racing department. While production figures have not been revealed yet, it’s likely that 30 units will be built – Trenta means thirty in Italian. And when they do launch it, expect it to be priced quite exorbitantly.
The Noale-based marque has a rich racing history with 54 world titles to their name, the first of which was courtesy of Alessandro Gramigni who won the 1992 125cc Grand Prix World Championship. Aprilia was a force to be reckoned with in the two-stroke era and WSBK racking up numerous World championship titles with the likes of Valentino Rossi, Max Biaggi, Loris Capirossi and Sylvian Guintoli. Their MotoGP campaign has recently seen an astonishing turnaround with the first half of the 2022 season bringing them their first modern MotoGP-era win and five podiums.
