A new heartbreaking update about Liam Payne’s death has been revealed. The One Direction singer died on October 16. While it was initially reported that he fell off his hotel balcony in Argentina, a new statement by the Buenos Aires Security Ministry revealed that Liam Payne ‘had jumped from the balcony of his room.’
In a statement to Associated Press (AP), Buenos Aires Security Ministry’s communications director, Pablo Policicchio, shed light on his death and said that he ‘jumped from the balcony’ of his room that was situated on the third floor. He was put up in Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighborhood of Argentina’s capital. They also revealed that the Police rushed to the hotel after they received an emergency stress call after 5 PM local time.
The plice was warned about an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” The Buenos Aires police said in a statement that that Liam had “extremely serious injuries.” Medics added that the singer died on the spot.
In the 911 call recording accessed by AP, the manager said, “A guest who is overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol … He’s destroying the entire room and, well, we need you to send someone, please.” The autopsy is underway.
Earlier in the day, TMZ reported that Liam was acting ‘erratic’ at the hotel he was staying at. The report added that he ‘smashed his laptop’ and was ‘carried back to his room.’
The One Direction singer had been open about his struggle with alcoholism. In a conversation back in 2021, he addressed alcoholism and suicidal ideation on The Diary of a CEO podcast. “There is some stuff that I have definitely never, never spoken about. It was really, really, really severe. And it was a problem. And it was only until I saw myself after that, I was like ‘Right, I need to fix myself,’” he said at the time.
“I was all bloated out… I call it my pills-and-booze face. My face was just like 10 times more than it is now. I just didn’t like myself very much and then I made a change,” he added.
Fans of Liam and One Direction have been mourning his death. However, Liam’s fellow members are yet to react to his death.
