Lexus LM price in India, MPV, launch date, Toyota Vellfire

Lexus will unveil the second-gen LM MPV at the Shanghai motor show 2023 on April 18. Just like the outgoing LM that was showcased in India at Auto Expo 2023 in January, the new Lexus LM MPV will be based on the new Toyota Alphard and Vellfire, which are also expected to make a global debut at the same event. The new Lexus LM is expected to come to India later this year

Unlike the first-gen LM, which was sold in a handful of markets overseas like China, Russia and the Middle East, as well as a few right-hand-drive regions, the second-gen MPV will be sold in many more markets, including some in Europe and also the United Kingdom. 

The LM (for ‘Luxury Mover’) aims to provide a comfortable and luxurious experience for executives who don’t want a chauffeur-driven SUV or sedan. Details of how the forthcoming LM will differ visually from the current model remain scarce. However, the firm did post a darkened preview image showing the MPV’s much smoother C- and D-pillars. The teaser also hints at a complete redesign of the MPV as the distinct glasshouse on the outgoing LM has been completely altered. 

New Lexus LM MPV to get petrol-hybrid powertrain

The outgoing Lexus LM came with two engine options – a 3.5-litre petrol engine good for 291hp that came mated to an 8-speed automatic and a 2.5-litre petrol hybird powertrain mated to an e-CVT gearbox. The latter, producing 150hp and running on the more efficient Atkinson cycle, came coupled to a 143hp electric motor on the front axle for a combined output of 197hp. There was also an additional 67hp rear-axle motor, effectively giving it all-wheel drive. 

We can confirm that the next-gen LM will continue with the petrol-hybrid powertrain. As before, this variant of the LM will be called the Lexus LM 300h and will be the one that’s headed to India. 

New Lexus LM MPV to get memory foam-equipped seats

As with the outgoing model, the second-gen LM is expected to be available in 4- and 7-seat layouts. Both options will have reclining seats with massage functions and ‘AdaptiPedic’ memory foam used on the rear seats only. There will also be a glass panel that can be raised between the front and rear seats, separating the passenger compartment and allowing for greater privacy for occupants. 

New Lexus LM MPV India launch details

Lexus had confirmed to us back in January that the LM will make it to India sometime this year and sources tell us that it will be this all-new second-gen model that is headed to our shores, and not the first-gen MPV that was showcased at Auto Expo.
