Know what to do if you accidentally transfer money to wrong UPI account: UPI Payment

Find out how to get your money back if you transferred it to a UPI account that wasn't yours.

Payment via UPI: The Unified Payment Interface (UPI) is now a widely used payment method in the digital age. UPI platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm are becoming increasingly popular with customers who prefer cashless transactions. However, the accidental transfer of funds to the incorrect account is a common issue when using UPI to transfer money.

There is no need to worry if you make a mistaken transfer; it won’t be a major problem for you. You can get your money back if you transferred it through UPI and it ended up in the wrong account. First, immediately take a screenshot of the payment and keep a record of the ID and payment message. When it comes time to file a complaint, this will come in handy.

The first step is to file a complaint using the UPI app you used to make the transaction. You can take your complaint to your bank if it is not addressed there. You can get your money back with help from the bank. You can, however, bring the matter up with the Lokpal if the recipient of the money refuses to return it. You can also submit your complaint on the website of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Digital payments are now easy and convenient thanks to UPI, but it’s important to be careful when moving money. Anyone can accidentally transfer money to the wrong account, but if you act quickly, you can get your money back. So, if you’ve made a mistake while using UPI, don’t worry; just follow the steps above to get your money back.
