Kitchen app Sortizy gets $100,000 in funding round led by Campus Fund

Sortizy, a smart kitchen management platform, has raised $100,000 in a funding round led by Campus Fund, a venture capital firm that backs student-led startups.

Founded in 2020 by Surbhi Guha of NIT Warangal and Sagthi Prakash of IIT Kharagpur, along with Akshay and Nitin Gupta, Sortizy offers recipes and cooking lessons on video as well as a feature that allows users to plan their meals as well grocery purchases.

It was recognised by Google Play India as the best app of 2021 in the everyday essentials category. Over 3.6 lakh queries for recipes have been clocked since May 2021, when the app was launched on Google Play, with users having cooked for more than 2,000 hours using the platform.

“The product Sortizy has to offer can truly build a cooking community while also completely addressing the ‘way to cook’ aspect of it,” Anirudh Toshniwal, partner at Campus Fund, said in a statement. “This can be a solid proposition and coupled with the right execution, it’ll be interesting to see how this evolves.”

Sortizy has over 150 chef partners across India and 10 other nations. The platform offers the content creators an opportunity to publish their recipes, share their experience with others, while engaging with their viewers through creation of micro-communities on the platform.
