Last year in November, Karan Johar announced a movie with Kartik. The film will be co-produced by Ekta Kapoor.
Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar on Sunday grabbed the attention of fans and paparazzi as they were spotted together at the airport. They were seen returning and hugging each other goodbye before heading towards their cars. The moment, caught on camera, has since gone viral on social media.
In the video, shared by Viral Bhayani, we can see Kartik Aaryan wearing a casual shirt and pants while Karan Johar looks handsome in a black ensemble. Both are talking and smiling as they exit the airport. They were also seen posing for the camera. Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar have finally buried the hatchet, two years after the casting controversy surrounding the now-shelved movie Dostana 2. Last year in November, Karan Johar took to his official Instagram account to announce a movie with Kartik on the actor’s 33rd birthday. The film will be co-produced by Ekta Kapoor.

Sharing the announcement on social media, Karan Johar wrote, “Kickstarting today with some special news on a special day! Extremely thrilled to announce @dharmamovies and @balajimotionpictures coming together for a film helmed by the exceptionally talented @sandeipm. I find myself elated to also announce the supremely talented @kartikaaryan as our lead for this story that will unfold in cinemas on 15th August, 2025! Kartik, happy birthday to you… may our collaboration only grow from strength to strength from hereon and never cease to create magic on the big screen. @ektarkapoor, being your friend is easily the best thing and now working with you will be no different!”
In 2021, rumours about Kartik’s “unprofessional” behaviour upsetting Karan Johar surfaced online and it was said that the actor was no longer a part of Dostana 2. The film was supposed to star Kartik alongside Janhvi Kapoor and debutant Lakshya. Dharma Productions had announced Dostana 2 in 2019.
Kartik will next be seen in Kabir Khan’s Chandu Champion. The film is based on the extraordinary real-life story of a sportsperson and his spirit of never giving up. Helmed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion also stars Katrina Kaif and Shraddha Kapoor.
