Celebrating Virat Kohli’s 50th ODI century in the India vs New Zealand semi-final match, Kareena Kapoor showered him with praises.

India secured a spot in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup final with a dominating performance in the semi-finals against New Zealand. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand by 70 runs at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Virat Kohli played a pivotal role in this triumph and achieved his 50th ODI century by surpassing legend Sachin Tendulkar as the international batter with the highest number of centuries in ODI cricket. Kohli’s remarkable innings saw him reach the milestone in 106 balls with eight fours and a six.

The social media platforms have been abuzz with warm messages and congratulations for Kohli’s remarkable accomplishment. Wishes are pouring in from notable figures like Sachin Tendulkar, Kareena Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn, and Preity Zinta. Expressing her admiration, Kareena Kapoor took to her Instagram stories to share a picture of Virat Kohli with a heartfelt message: “There is only one and there will never be another,” she wrote before tagging Virat and Anushka Sharma.

Meanwhile, Virat’s wife Anushka Sharma who was seen cheering for the batter, took to her Instagram Stories after the match and wrote a heartfelt message. “God is the best scriptwriter. Utterly grateful to him for blessing me with your love, and to watch you grow from strength to strength and achieve all that you have and will, being honest to yourself and to the sport always. You are truly God’s child,” she said.

After the Indian innings concluded, Virat Kohli opened up on his big achievement. “It’s the stuff of dreams. Sachin paaji was there in the stands. It’s very difficult for me to express it. My life partner, my hero – he’s sitting there. And all these fans at the Wankhede. To get to 400 is amazing; a lot of credit needs to go to Shreyas. KL finished it with a flurry,” Kohli told the broadcasters.

Just as Kohli hit the century, Sachin Tendulkar posted a lengthy message on his X platform. “The first time I met you in the Indian dressing room, you were pranked by other teammates into touching my feet. I couldn’t stop laughing that day. But soon, you touched my heart with your passion and skill. I am so happy that that young boy has grown into a ‘Virat’ player,” he wrote.

“I couldn’t be happier that an Indian broke my record. And to do it on the biggest stage – in the World Cup Semi-final – and at my home ground is the icing on the cake,” Tendulkar added.

Not just Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami delivered an outstanding performance in the semi-final against New Zealand. He showcased remarkable bowling skills by taking seven wickets for 57 runs to help India win by 70 runs. Shami also established a new record as the best bowling performance by any Indian bowler in ODI match.
