The Kapoor family is honouring Raj Kapoor’s legacy by hosting a film festival which will play 10 of his biggest films.

The Kapoor family met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and praised him for his warm hospitality during a special interaction. The interaction happened after they invited him to the celebration of the 100th birth anniversary of legendary actor Raj Kapoor. PMO shared the video in which Kapoor’s family shared their views on meeting with PM Modi. Ranbir Kapoor said, “Aaj humare Kapoor family bahot hi special din hai Pradhan Mantri ji ne shri Raj Kapoor ji itna saman diya. Unhone ne hume apna kimti waqt diya. Isss mulaqat ke liye hum zindagi bhar aabhar rahenge. Thank you so much. Jab humari unke sath sit down gup shup hue bahot maza aaye kyunki hum unse bahot sari personal sawal bhi puche. Unhe humse bahot hi friendly nature se baat ki. Toh I think jo humare andar nervousness the, hum sabki hawa tight the. He was very good, he made us feel comfortable and I really thank him.”
Kareena Kapoor also added, “Mera toh hamesha dream raha hai ki main unke sath Pradhan Mantri Modi ke sath unke bagal mein baith ke kuch shabad bolu. Yeh toh hamesha mere mann mein tha ki ek baa raise hona hai life mein. And m so happy ki mere dada ji ke 100th birthday pe yeh mauka mila mujhe unke sath ek kamre mein baith kar ke humare puri family ke sath. Unke aas pass baithna, I think unki jo energy hai, ek different sa, ek positive energy raha and he truly is a global leader.”
Alia Bhatt said, “Unke energy, unke ek kidness, unke gesture jaise unhone hume welcome kiya aur Raj Kapoor ji ke baare mein itna baat kiya. Bahot ache suggestions and idea bhi diye ki hum aur kya kya kar sakte hai unke legacy ko aage badhne ke liye aur duniya ko educate karne ke liye. Toh bahot hi acha laga. Toh bahot hi proud moment hai family ke liye.”
Saif Ali Khan also mentioned, “Ek acha presence lagta hai ki aap ek leader se baat kar rahe hai, nation ke head se baat kar rahe hai. Toh ek warm feeling bhi lagta hai. Bahot achi baat ki. Raj Kapoor saab ka soft power jo internationally hai, jo itna pride logon ko eastern Europe mein, Russia mein, Central Europe mein. Bahot log jaaante hai. Keh rahe the hume ek documentary, ek film banae chahiye the. Kisi tarah iss memory ko jaari rakhni chahiye. Aur develop karni chahiye.”
The film festival will play 10 of his biggest films. The festival will feature Raj Kapoor’s most celebrated works, spanning almost four decades including including – Aag (1948), Barsaat (1949), Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Jagte Raho (1956), Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960), Sangam (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby (1973) and Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985).
