Kareena Kapoor Khan also recalled meeting Aamir Khan after Laal Singh Chaddha’s failure and noticed he was sad and apologetic.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha was very much in the news ever since it was announced. However, the film, which was a Hindi remake of Forrest Grump, did not perform well at the box office. It failed badly and now after a long time Kareena opened up about the same she also recalled meeting Aamir Khan for the first time after failure of the film. She said that the actor was apologetic and looked visibly dejected. She also addressed the low box office numbers of the Advait Chandan helmed film.
In an interview with Mid-Day, Kareena Kapoor pondered on why the film couldn’t work among the masses, “Aamir was living that character. He had become Laal. Covid had just happened and everything was slowly opening up and people maybe wanted something more energetic and fun. It (the film) was slightly emotional.”
When asked whether she thought the film had ‘arthouse’ undertones, Kareena Kapoor answered, “I wouldn’t say arthouse. Maybe there were these big names attached to the film like Aamir and me, they wanted something more coming out this time. I think it was slightly dark.”
Kareena Kapoor also recalled meeting Aamir at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) event. “Recently, Aamir and I were at the inauguration of NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre). That’s when we first met after (Laal Singh Chaddha). Well, I saw his face, and I could see how he was looking at me, apologetic and sad, at the same time. Together, we’ve delivered big films – 3 Idiots (2009) and Talaash (2012). But you know what? It doesn’t matter. I wrote a long letter (on WhatsApp) to both Aamir and the director (Advait Chandan), telling them that our relationships and talent don’t depend on the outcome of a film,” she shared with the portal.
Laal Singh Chaddha, directed by Advait Chandan and starring Aamir Khan, is a heartwarming tale that has resonated with audiences globally. It also stars Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya.
On the work front, Kareena Kapoor will be next seen in The Crew co starring Tabu, Kriti Sanon and Diljit Dosanjh. The film is releasing in March next year.
