Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency release again delayed

Recently, Kangana expressed her disappointment over the delayed release. She took to X handle and deemed CBFC’s decision to withhold Emergency certificate ‘illegal’

The Bombay High Court heard a petition on Friday regarding the upcoming film Emergency. During the hearing, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, the co-producer of Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency, informed the court that it has agreed to the cuts suggested by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

As reported the producer of the movie has sought 2 weeks to comply with the suggested cuts and edits in the movie by CBFC. The CBFC has also told the court they will decide on certification in 2 weeks.  As per the terms agreed between the two parties, both Manikarnika and Zee Entertainment have agreed to certain cuts. Manikarnika has asked for two weeks to make the changes and once such changes are made, the certification will be granted in the next two weeks.

Money Control reported that Senior counsel Abhinav Chandrachud, appearing for the CBFC, said once the film is submitted after the cuts, the same would be verified and a certificate would be issued in two weeks. A division bench of Justices B P Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla accepted the statements and disposed of the petition filed by Zee Entertainment.

Recently, Kangana expressed her disappointment over the delayed release. She took to X and deemed CBFC’s decision to withhold Emergency certificate ‘illegal’. She also reacted to Bombay High Court’s order on the delay in clearance of her upcoming film Emergency by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). She shared a post by Live Law and wrote, “High court has blasted censor for illegally withholding the certificate of #emergency.”

Speaking with IANS, Kangana said, “It’s getting too late. I hope the film comes on time. Otherwise, I am determined to fight for it. I am determined to even go to court to protect my film. To save my right as an individual. You can’t change history and scare us by threats.”

“We have to show the history. An almost 70-year-old woman was shot 30-35 times in her house… Someone must have killed her. Now you want to show it… Because apparently, you think you can hurt someone. But you have to show the history. So how did she die?” the actress added.

In the trailer released in August, viewers learnt that Emergency will focus on the Emergency period in the 1980s in India. Kangana, who is starring and directing the film, will be seen playing the role of Indira Gandhi. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry and Shreyas Talpade among others. While Shreyas Talpade will be seen playing the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Anupam Kher will be seen as Jayaprakash Narayan. Late actor Satish Kaushik will also be seen as Former Deputy Prime Minister of India, Jagjivan Ram.
