Kangana Ranaut plays the role of an Air Force pilot in Tejas.

Kangana Ranaut questions actors who prioritise gym sessions while working on a role.

Kangana Ranaut is known for fearlessly putting forth her point. She has never hesitated to slam her co-actors in the industry. In a recent interview too, Kangana took a dig at those who are often spotted outside the gym and asked why they prioritise gym sessions while working on a role.

“Why do they always hit the gym first, regardless of the role or preparation required? I don’t know, gym mein karte hi kya hain (what exactly do they do at gyms?)” Kangana asked while speaking to Times Now Navbharat.

“I have never received any such roles. Even in the case of Tejas Gill… Though combat training was necessary, I never resorted to gym workouts. That’s a different kind of training. It’s quite strange that most actors rely on the gym for every role preparation. It’s very superficial,” the actress added.

The actress went on to say that Bollywood actors have become very much ‘self-obsessed’. “Our actors and actresses have become very self-obsessed. They spend their days looking at mirrors, somewhere forgetting that they are not models or pop stars. Many seem to be so influenced by westernisation that they have lost sight of their role as actors. They seem to overlook the true essence of being an actor and are overly fixated on physical appearances,” she said.

Kangana concluded by saying that this self-obsession and priority to look good all the time has also created a “structure where women are expected to arrive looking tip-top regardless of the nuances of the characters they portray”. “It seems that the primary focus has become getting dressed up for work,” she concluded.

In Tejas, Kangana is playing the role of an Air Force pilot who is on a mission to fight terrorism. Reportedly, Kangana dedicated four months to rigorous training to master the specialised combat techniques employed by the Indian forces, for her film. Produced by RSVP, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Anshul Chauhan, Varun Mitra, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Vishak Nair in pivotal roles. The movie is directed by Sarvesh Mewara and produced by Ronnie Screwvala.

Tejas will hit theatres on October 27.
