JioPhone Next, the next affordable smartphone from Reliance Jio, is set to be released next month, and the anticipation around the product is increasing every week. Reliance Jio has developed the JioPhone Next in collaboration with Google.
In June, Sundar Pichai, Alphabet CEO, revealed that the JioPhone Next will run on an “extremely optimised Android version” and will have feature drops.
Now, a few weeks ahead of the JioPhone Next release, a leak claims the price and complete specs of the entry-level Android smartphone. As per a tipster named Yogesh who tweeted out the details, the JioPhone Next may come with an estimated price of Rs 3,499.
The latest price leak seems in sync with Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s claim that the JioPhone Next will be “the cheapest smartphone by far in India and around the world.” However, considering the tipster says “estimated price”, we expect the JioPhone Next to pack an even affordable price tag.
Therefore, we suggest our readers take the bit about price with a pinch of salt.
The JioPhone Next will be going on sale in India next month on September 10 on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, as confirmed by Ambani during the company’s AGM in June.
Other specifications tipped by the tipster include a 5.5-inch HD display, 4G VoLTE dual-SIM, 2GB and 3GB RAM options, and said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 processor.
The handset is said to run on Android 11 (Go edition). However, we will have to wait for the formal announcement to know what both the companies are calling the software on the JioPhone Next.
In terms of storage, the JioPhone Next is said to pack 16GB and 32GB storage options. At the moment, there’s no word whether the JioPhone Next will support expandable storage. However, considering this is a budget offering, there are chances.
Next, the JioPhone Next is said to pack a single 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Under the hood, the latest entry-level JioPhone is said to pack a 2500mAh battery.
Additionally, Google has revealed some of the features on the JioPhone Next, like support for voice assistant and real-time language translation. The company also confirmed smart camera AR filters on the JioPhone Next.
Another interesting feature that the JioPhone Next will come with is read-aloud screen text automatically, which could be handy for users in India.
