Actor Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing in American sitcom ‘Friends’, died at the age of 54. His co-star Jennifer Aniston is ‘devastated’ by his death.

Jennifer Aniston is reeling from the death of her ‘Friends’ co-star Matthew Perry, who was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home on November 28. Nearly 20 years before Matthew’s death, Jennifer had broken down in tears at the thought of “losing” him during an interview with Diane Sawyer.

The sit-down interview has resurfaced on the internet following Matthew’s death. In the interview, Jennifer, who considered Matthew as her own family, got emotional talking about his struggle with addiction.

When Diane Sawyer asked the Jennifer what Matthew “didn’t know” about himself and needed to hear, the actress replied, “That he’s alright.” “He struggled,” Aniston said while referring to his battle with drug and alcohol addiction.

“We didn’t know. We weren’t equipped to deal with it. Nobody had ever dealt with that. And the idea of even losing him… he’s having a road. But he’s alright.”

Two days after Matthew’s death, Jennifer, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer paid an emotional tribute to their co-star, who portrayed Chandler Bing for 10 seasons on the popular American sitcom.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” they said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world,” the concluded.
