Avenger 4X4 EV SUV concept gets better approach, departure angles, and more ground clearance.
While Jeep has already revealed details of the Avenger EV SUV, the brand has now previewed a future AWD version of the electric SUV with the Avenger 4X4 concept. Showcased at the ongoing Paris Motor Show 2022, the Avenger 4X4 gets a dual-motor set-up for its EV powertrain.

Jeep Avenger 4X4: AWD version incoming
Jeep had earlier announced that all their SUVs, including the EVs, will have an AWD version. The Avenger EV SUV currently has only a FWD set-up, and in order to have an AWD Avenger, Jeep will add another electric motor to its rear axle, according to sources. While the brand has not revealed any specifications for the Avenger 4X4, we expect the same motor, which currently powers the FWD version, to be added to the rear axle as well.
Jeep Avenger 4X4: expected powertrain and range Â
The Avenger’s front-mounted motor, in current form, is good for 154hp and 260Nm of torque. However, it remains to be seen whether the e-motor installed at the rear will be identical.
If Jeep decides to add the same motor on the Avenger’s rear axle, it could have a combined power output of around 300hp and over 500Nm of torque, on a compact SUV which is just around four meters in length. As far as battery goes, the AWD version is expected to carry over the same 54kWh unit. While the standard FWD Avenger EV has a range of around 400km on the WLTP cycle, the AWD version could see a drop, thanks to the added weight of the second motor.
Jeep Avenger 4X4: gets off-road specific changes
In concept form, the Avenger 4X4 gets off-road specific tweaks that include an approach angle of 21 degrees, departure angle of 34 degrees, and a breakover angle of 20 degrees. In addition, ground clearance is over 200mm, which is more than the FWD Avenger EV SUV. It also includes cosmetic changes like an additional built-in floodlight and a new lightweight, scratchproof roof cargo, fitted with a new belt system. Jeep said the concept also features an anti-reflective bonnet sticker and anti-scratch treatment.
The Avenger EV in FWD set-up will go on sale in some international markets late next year or in early 2024. It remains to be seen if the standard Avenger EV SUV or the Avenger 4X4 comes to India in future.
Jeep, on the other hand, will launch the latest-gen Grand Cherokee SUV in India sometime next month, and you can read more on that here.
