Jeep announces technical details of Avenger EV: powertrain, range and charging


Along with technical details, Jeep has also shown the interior of the Avenger EV for the first time.


Earlier last month, Jeep showcased the Avenger EV – the brand’s smallest SUV till date – for the first time at the 4xe Day 2022. Now, the American carmaker has revealed the powertrain and range details as well as the interior of the Avenger EV. This will first launch in Europe in the first half of 2023, and will be the first to use Stellantis’ STLA Small platform.

Jeep Avenger EV: powertrain and range

The Avenger EV will feature a Stellantis-built 54kWh battery that can give 400km of range, according to the WLTP cycle, but Jeep claims this can be as much as 550km depending on driving conditions. The battery can recharge from 20-80 percent in 24 minutes via a 100kW cable.

Power will come from the group’s 154hp, 260Nm motors, with either two or four motors fitted on the axle depending on the variant’s configuration, and Jeep will offer both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions. It will also come with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain off-road modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud and Snow), which change various parameters depending on the mode. The Avenger EV has an approach and breakover angle of 20 degrees, while the departure angle is 32 degrees.

The Avenger EV will be built at the group’s advanced, high-efficiency plant in Tychy, Poland. The model will also be sold in markets like Europe, Japan and South Korea, and could be launched in India as well in the future.

Jeep Avenger EV: interior

Jeep, for the first time, has also given us a proper look at the interior of the Avenger EV. The dashboard has a rather minimalistic design theme that’s dominated by a large, free-standing touchscreen. The rectangular AC vents are integrated seamlessly in the dashboard, which has a body coloured strip spanning the width of the dashboard. There are two bands of physical switches – one for the HVAC and one for the drive selector.

Other highlights include a chunky steering wheel with many buttons to control several functions, and a fully digital instrument cluster. The centre console too has a minimalistic design with hidden storage spaces and a large ‘e’ badge at the centre. There’s also a smartly integrated storage shelf under the AC vents. 

Jeep Avenger EV: positioning

The baby SUV will sit at the bottom of the range as part of a four-car line-up. The Avenger will be joined by the Wagoneer S, which will top Jeep’s range and come with a raft of premium features, although none of these has yet been confirmed. It will pack 608hp, have a 0-100kph time of 3.5sec and offer a range of 644km.

Meanwhile, the Recon will be offered and positioned as a raw take on off-road Jeeps of old, with options including removable doors and an open-top design – like the Wrangler – and get similar power and range as the Wagoneer S. The Recon and Wagoneer S will hit European markets in 2025, and be among the first to sit on Stellantis’s STLA Large platform. This will be further joined by a final, as yet unannounced electric model in the future. Prices for all three new electric cars will be announced at the ongoing Paris motor show.
