Filmmaker James Gunn confirmed that Superman Legacy will be released on the scheduled date — July 11, 2025. “Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest strikes in Hollywood history,” he wrote.
James Gunn’s latest announcement has made cinema enthusiasts heave a sigh of relief. The American filmmaker on Saturday, November 11 confirmed that his upcoming superhero film — Superman Legacy will premiere on the scheduled date. Even with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike affecting the release of many movies, luckily the James Gunn directorial is not one among them. In a heartwarming social media post, the director expressed his happiness about Superman Legacy’s release date being the same. He also thanked the crew members for their efforts and for never losing faith even in dicey circumstances. The DC Studios production will hit the silver screen on the pre-decided date — July 11, 2025.
“Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest strikes in Hollywood history, and who never let their foot off the pedal, continuing to barrel forward, creating the most amazing character and set designs I’ve seen in my entire career, Superman Legacy will be making the originally planned release date of July 11, 2025,” read James Gunn’s post.
As soon as the announcement surfaced on the internet, DC enthusiasts were quick to mark their presence in the comments, sharing their excitement about the upcoming marvel. “Save me a seat!!! (And some popcorn!)” wrote one user. “That day the cinemas will be full of red and blue,” guessed another Superman fan. “Kryptonians unite!! Our leader is cooking something HUGE for us” came a third remark.
According to a report by Deadline, Superman Legacy will start rolling in spring 2024, although the exact date of filming is kept under wraps. The superhero movie will primarily be shot in London’s iconic Leavesden Studios. Reports claim that Superman Legacy will revolve around Supeman’s journey as he sets on a mission to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. With justice, truth, and kindness being his weapons he shows the world that showing compassion to others can never be old-fashioned.
Superman Legacy boasts a cast ensemble of David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.
Previously, actor Henry Cavill slipped into the shoes of Superman in DC Comics’ Man Of Steel, Batman vs Superman, and Justice League.
