Intermittent Fasting May Help In Weight Loss, Improve Mental Health: Study –

It has been revealed that eating a meal at a 10-hour interval has positive benefits that result in good mood, high energy and high appetite.

You must have heard the quote — health is wealth — multiple times. It is indeed important to take care of your health. Apart from eating nutritious and healthy food, it is important to eat at the proper time as well. In fact, studies have also found that fasting can help improve one’s health. As per a UK-based study, eating twice a day within a 10-hour window and fasting for the remaining hours of the day has shown recognisable improvement in health. The study also found that the body gets more energy, a significant improvement in the mood with this method. This restricting of food intake to a specific window time also known as intermittent fasting may help in weight loss.

The 10-hour window limit means limiting the eating schedule to just 10 hours and then fasting for the remaining 14 hours. So, if you have eaten a meal at 9 am, then you can eat at 7 in the evening. The rest of the time you should be fasting.

The study has shown that fasting improves mental health. It has been revealed that eating a meal at a 10-hour interval has positive benefits that result in good mood, high energy and high appetite. Researchers from Kingston College, London presented their trial results at the European Nutrition Conference. They found that those who strictly followed intermittent fasting benefited more than others.

The study also found that dietary restrictions need not be necessary to see positive results. It was revealed for the first time that people who do not stick to a time schedule of what they eat do not show any positive health effects in comparison to those who follow a strict time window.

The study had 37,545 participants with 78 percent women, who were monitored for over a three-week core intervention period on a health app named Zoe. As a part of the study, the participants were asked to follow a normal diet for the first week and then to observe intermittent fasting for two weeks. The participants’ average age is 60 years and their BMI is 25.6.
