India Post Payments Bank Partners Airtel To Launch Services: Banking On WhatsApp

The Airtel-IPPB WhatsApp Banking solution is also working on adding support for multiple languages, making it easier for customers, especially those in rural areas, to access banking services in their preferred language.

New Delhi: According to a joint statement released on Friday, the state-owned India Post Payments Bank and Bharti Airtel have joined forces to provide WhatsApp-based banking services to their local customers.

Customers of IPPB will be able to easily connect with the bank through the newly launched IPPB WhatsApp Banking channel and take advantage of a variety of banking services, including making doorstep service requests and locating the closest Post Office.

“We are thrilled to partner with Bharti Airtel to promote digital and financial inclusion in India.” According to Gursharan Rai Bansal, IPPB CGM and CSMO, “We believe that financial services driven by technology have a great potential and can go a long way in ensuring that the best financial products reach the farthest corners of the country.”

IPPB has over 4.51 lakh accounts in Delhi. The Airtel-IPPB WhatsApp Banking solution is also working on adding support for multiple languages, making it easier for customers, especially those in rural areas, to access banking services in their preferred language.

According to the statement, IPPB and Airtel IQ are working on further integrating a live, interactive customer support agent into WhatsApp. This will allow customers to access support around the clock and receive prompt responses to their questions.

“We will further enable two-way communication between the bank and its customers by adding WhatsApp messaging to the existing SMS and voice communication that we offer to India Post Payments Bank customers.”

Abhishek Biswal, Airtel IQ’s Business Head, stated, “We are delighted to continue our association with IPPB to significantly contribute to making banking services more accessible to tier-2 and tier-3 cities in the country.”
