The first match between the two teams had ended without a result due to rain, but in the second one, India displayed dominance, clinching the championship. Both teams, though, started off their World Cup campaigns with consecutive wins and aimed to maintain their momentum at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India secured wins against Australia and Afghanistan, while Pakistan won over the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
