IMPS transaction charges changed from February 1: SBI New Rules

SBI New Rules: The clients of the State Bank of India (SBI) should realize that the biggest public area moneylender in the nation has changed specific cash transfer rules from February 1, 2022. The bank has presented new sections for Immediate Payment Service (IMPS).

The SBI clients should realize that under the updated rules, the biggest public area moneylender in the nation will permit them to IMPS exchanges up to Rs 5 lakh rather than Rs 2 lakh.


A SBI official statement on January 4, 2022 said, “In a mean to urge clients to take on advanced banking, SBI has not demanded any Service Charge on IMPS exchange up to Rs 5 lacs, done through Internet banking/Mobile Banking/including YONO. In the case of Branch channels, there has been no adjustment of the assistance charges for IMPS done through the Branch Channel in the current chunks.”

The SBI has likewise given a warning to illuminate the IMPS charges in disconnected mode. They are as per the following:

1) Up to Rs 1000 – Nil

2) Above Rs 1000 and up to Rs 10,000 – Rs 2 assistance charge + GST

3) Above Rs 10,000 and up to Rs 1,00,000 – Rs 4 help charge + GST

4) Above Rs 1,00,000 and up to Rs 2,00,000 – Rs 12 help charge + GST

5) Above Rs 2,00,000 and up to Rs 5,00,000 – Rs 20 assistance charge + GST, according to the new section

In the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Monetary Committee Policy (MPC) meet that occurred in the period of October last year, as far as possible was expanded.

“Considering the significance of the IMPS framework in handling of homegrown installment exchanges, it is proposed to expand the per-exchange limit from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for channels other than SMS and IVRS,” RBI said in an assertion.
