IBM Consulting’s BPO unit wins vendor invoicing deal from IndianOil

Chennai: IBM Consulting’s BPO division has won a vendor invoice management deal from state-owned energy company IndianOil, a press statement said today.

The Shared Service Centre, from where employees of IndianOil and IBM would resolve vendor issues, make payments, record exceptions and maintain records, would be based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The centre would be able to process 1.5 million invoices annually.

John Granger, Senior Vice President, IBM Consulting, said the collaboration leverages the technology company’s industry expertise and prowess in hybrid cloud and AI. The release said digital technologies like optical character recognition, vendor portal and ticketing tools, analytics and automation solutions would help IndianOil increase visibility of key process metrics. Also on offer are AI-enabled chatbots for vendors to get updates on invoices and payments.

For IndianOil, the outcome of the deal is technology-enable service delivery at scale. Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Director (Finance), IndianOil, said the Shared Service Centre makes centralized processing for the “accounts payable” function across the country.
