I Want To Talk features Abhishek as a terminally ill father who wants to reconnect with his daughter. It marks the actor’s first collaboration with director Shoojit Sircar, who is known for making films such as Vicky Donor, Sardar Uddham, October, Piku and others. The film is inspired by a true story and also features Jayant Kriplani and Ahilya Bamroo in key roles.
Recently, talking about his role in the film, Abhishek told Hindustan Times, “Someone who has dealt with the things that he has dealt with and continues to deal with, it’s very easy to get fed up after 31 odd years and say, ‘bahut ho gaya hai, abhi aur nahi karna hai’ (I’ve had enough, I don’t want to go on). But no, the fact that he is continuing at it, continuously trying, is what makes him truly brave.”

Mere bete, bete hone se mere uttaradhikari nahin honge, jo mere uttaradhikari honge woh mere bete honge. Abhishek mere bete; mere uttaradhikari (My son, being a son does not make him my successor; those who will be my successors will be my sons. Abhishek is my son and my successor.)”
