Both SUVs qualify for the AIS 098 crash test standards in India, which are quite stringent.
Which is the compact SUV between the Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon. The GNCAP safety rating of the Venue is not published. What would be your prediction for the safety rating of Venue? Would it be a good choice from safety point of view?
Jitesh Lalwani, Hyderabad
Autocar India says: There is no GNCAP rating for the Venue as yet and even the Nexon’s 5-star rating is under the old protocol and not the newer, more stringent test protocol under which it may not achieve 5 stars. Also, though GNCAP is an important safety rating, it is not the ultimate measure of safety as it does not factor in all the safety aspects of a car, notably active safety. The Venue, like all other cars, meets the current AIS 098 standards in India, which are quite stringent, and for everyday use around town, it’s safe.
