Hyundai Venue facelift new exterior design, interior, features and more

The Venue facelift will be among four new facelifted Hyundai SUVs that are being lined up for India including the Creta, Tucson and Kona electric.

Launched in May 2019, the Hyundai Venue has been in the market for nearly three years, and is soon due a major facelift. We have previously reported with spy shots of the Venue facelift caught testing in South Korea. Now, a test mule of the Venue facelift has been spied on Indian soil for the first time. The updated Venue is expected to make it global debut in the coming months, following which it is expected to arrive in India later this year.

  • Styling on Venue facelift is inspired by new-gen Tucson
  • Interior to be spruced up; will get more features
  • Expected to remain mechanically unchanged

2022 Hyundai Venue facelift: what all will be new?

Spy shots of the Venue facelift have suggested a major design overhaul to the front and rear fascia of the compact SUV. Up front, the Venue facelift will get a new grille that’s inspired by the new-gen Tucson’s ‘Parametric Dynamics’ design language. A similar treatment has also been meted out to the upcoming Creta facelift. Although not visible in these spy shots, the Venue facelift is also expected to get reprofiled split LED headlamps and a newly designed front bumper.

In profile, the Venue is expected to remain quite similar to the current model, but there’s a new design for the alloy wheels. The rear, again, has been completely redesigned. The squarish tail lamps on the current model will be replaced by new L-shaped units with unique, integrated LED elements that extend to the tailgate. There will also be a redesigned rear bumper with new inserts and a faux skid plate.

We haven’t come across interior spy images of the Venue facelift yet, but we expect notable changes on that front as well. There could be cosmetic tweak to the interior design, newer shades and textures for the seats, and other trim pieces. Hyundai is also expected to throw in some additional features, although details on that will be available closer to its debut.

2022 Hyundai Venue facelift: engine and gearbox options

The Venue facelift will most likely remain mechanically unchanged from the current model. That means, under the hood, it will continue with the 83hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, the 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit and the 100hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Gearbox options are also expected to be carried forward, with the 1.2 petrol coming with a 5-speed manual gearbox only, while the 1.0 turbo-petrol and 1.5 diesel unit get a 6-speed manual. The turbo-petrol will also get the choice of an iMT clutchless manual gearbox and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

2022 Hyundai Venue facelift: rivals, expected launch and price

Upon launch, the Hyundai Venue facelift will continue its rivalry with the likes of the Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, and refreshed versions of Toyota Urban Cruiser, and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which are also due in the coming months. The facelifted Venue is expected to go on sale in India by the end of 2022. Expect a reasonable bump up in price as well, with the current model priced between Rs 6.99 lakh – Rs 11.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
