Hyundai will be adding another gearbox option to the Creta with a blacked-out Knight Edition, and the company has revealed pricing for both models. The Hyundai Creta iMT, available in a sole S variant, is priced at ₹ 12.68 lakh, while the new Creta Knight Edition, available in a new S+ and SX (O) variants, start from ₹ 13.35 lakh, all prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
Hyundai is offering the new 6-speed iMT gearbox with the 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine on the Creta. This is the third model in Hyundai’s line-up to be offered with an iMT gearbox after the Venue and the i20. With this new addition, the Creta 1.5 petrol is now available with three gearbox options — 6-speed MT, 6-speed iMT and a CVT automatic.
It is believed the CVT variant of the Creta now has an average waiting period of six months. Given that the iMT is a new gearbox in the Creta range, it is also likely to have a lower waiting period. The Creta iMT is in the process of reaching dealerships as of now.
The iMT gearbox is also offered on the Seltos petrol on its mid-spec HTK+ variant, where it comes mated to the same 1.5-litre petrol engine. The Seltos iMT HTK+ is priced at ₹ 12.75 lakh (ex-showroom), which is ₹ 7,000 more than the Creta, but it gets additional features, like 16-inch alloys, over the Creta’s 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, LED Daytime Running Lamps and ambient lighting among others.
As such, the Creta S 1.5 iMT gets the following features — an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, a reverse parking camera, LED turn indicators on the wing mirrors, cruise control, push button start/stop, automatic climate control and a cooled glovebox. Additionally, Kia has also introduced the iMT gearbox on the Seltos diesel.
Cashing in on the trend of Dark Editions from other brands, the new Creta Knight Edition gets a blacked-out theme for the exterior and interior. Updates include a new gloss black finish for the grille with red inserts, blacked-out front and rear skid plates and red front brake calipers.
The wing mirrors, roof rails, side sills and C-pillar garnish also get a blacked-out treatment, while the Hyundai logo on the front and rear get a dark chrome finish. The wheels have been finished in a new gun metal shade, with a Knight Edition emblem on the tail gate.
On the inside, the all-black theme continues for the seat upholstery and the dashboard, and for some contrast, the AC vents are finished in red. There is red contrast stitching for the seats as well.
The Creta Knight Edition is available on the newly introduced S+ and the top-spec SX(O) automatic variants. It can be had with either the 1.5-litre petrol or diesel engines, but not with the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine.
