Hyundai Ioniq 5, BYD Seal, Seal vs Ioniq 5, best EVs under Rs 50 lakh -DellyRanks

Both are compelling born EVs, and the choice could largely come down to the body style.

I’ve been looking to purchase my first electric vehicle for a long time now. However, options have been limited thus far. Now with plenty of options in the Rs 50-60 lakh range, this space has piqued my interest yet again. I’ve driven the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volvo C40 Recharge, Mini Cooper SE and I’m keen to drive the BYD Seal before finalizing. The car will be used by my wife and me as a daily driver as well as for weekend drives in and around Mumbai.

Autocar India says: The Rs 50-60 lakh EV space has several competent options, most of which you have listed or test driven. We recently reviewed the BYD Seal Premium (mid, rear-wheel drive variant) and believe that it is an excellent car to drive with entertaining performance and very linear power delivery, akin to a petrol car. Space, seat comfort and practicality is good too, and for the price, it is your best option. You will need to be careful while dealing with large speed breaker or unusually deep potholes due to its 145mm ground clearance, and you’ll need to purchase a sunshade as an accessory to save yourself from the summer heat. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is also a great option that’s more spacious, better equipped and more practical due to its higher ground clearance, hence it deserves serious consideration.
