Hyundai i20 N-Line facelift: what’s new?
Just like the regular hatchback, the sporty i20 N Line facelift only gets minor cosmetic tweaks. However, the bigger change is that the 6-speed iMT gearbox has been replaced by a traditional 6-speed manual unit. As for the engine, the i20 N-Line continues with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit that produces 120hp and 172Nm of torque. Notably, the N Line is the only variant that now gets the turbo-petrol motor as Hyundai has discontinued this engine on the regular i20 with the facelift.
Apart from the aforementioned 6-speed manual, the i20 N Line also gets the 7-speed DCT as before. Like the pre-facelift car, the i20 N-Line continues with a sportier exhaust note, a sportier suspension setup and rear disc brakes over the regular hatchback.
Hyundai i20 N Line: exterior design
Not much has changed from the pre-facelift model in terms of design – it continues with the same front bumper with a parametric grille design and a N Line logo, and a prominent front splitter with red accents. At the rear it gets a mildly altered bumper design with a prominent diffuser, red accents, twin-exhaust outlets and a tail gate spoiler along with dark chrome garnish connecting the two taillamps.
What’s new are the full-LED headlamps – the pre-facelift model got LED projectors – and a new design for the 16-inch alloys. Six single tone paint options are on offer on the facelifted i20 N line. There are dual tone options available as well for an extra cost.
Hyundai i20 N Line: interior and features
The i20 N Line shares its dashboard design with the standard car. The all-black interior get subtle red accents and N line badging on the seats and steering wheel. It also gets red ambient lighting, metal finish on the pedals, and a N Line-specfic steering wheel and gear lever.
The equipment list is at par with the regular, top-spec i20. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto gets software updates, there’s a digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, cruise control, automatic climate control, a single-pane sunroof, and 7-speaker Bose sound system.
Safety features include 6 airbags, 3-point seatbelts with seatbelt reminder for all passengers, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), reverse camera, automatic headlamps, electronic stability control (ESC), and hill assist control.
Hyundai i20 N Line: pricing and rivals
With the discontinuation of the Polo GT TSI, the i20 N-line does not have a direct rival anymore. If compared with turbo-petrol engine equipped hatchbacks, the Altroz iTurbo with its 110hp engine can be termed as a rival. However, the turbo-petrol engine equipped Altroz does not get different exhaust or suspension tuning like the i20 N-line.
