The India launch of the Hyundai i20 facelift is still some time away.

The Hyundai i20 facelift is set to make its global debut in the coming months, as confirmed by Albert Beiermann, Hyundai’s executive technical advisor at an event in Australia. The third-gen i20 was introduced in 2020 and its facelift has been spied testing overseas for a while now. However, India launch of the facelifted i20 is still some time away.

  1. Hyundai i20 facelift likely to continue with the same powertrains
  2. It will rival Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz

Hyundai i20 facelift: what to expect?

The test mule that was seen last year was heavily camouflaged, but it did show some parts of the i20 facelift. The premium hatchback from Hyundai is expected to get a slightly tweaked grille and it is also likely to get subtle tweaks to the front bumper and headlights.

While in profile, there doesn’t seem to be any major change, the i20 facelift could get a new set of alloy wheels and wheel covers. The test mule’s rear end was not visible but expect the rear bumper and tail-lights to be slightly altered. It could also sport a light bar connecting the tail-lights, as seen in the facelifted Venue.

The interior of the i20 facelift has also not been seen yet, but it is likely to have minor changes. These updates could include refreshed upholstery as well as some new features. Currently, the i20 gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, an air purifier, connected car tech and a sunroof, among other features.

Expect all of these changes to also carry forward to the i20 N Line, along with N Line-specific updates as well.

Hyundai i20 facelift powertrains

Currently, the i20 comes with a 83hp (88hp with the CVT), 115Nm, 1.2-litre petrol engine, and a 120hp, 172Nm, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. While the petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT, the turbo-petrol comes exclusively with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Expect the i20 facelift to get the same engines and gearboxes.

Hyundai i20 facelift India launch and rivals

As mentioned above, the i20 facelift is due for its global debut in the next few months. When the facelift launches in India, it will continue to rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Tata Altroz.
