Tata Power will also supply the charger and offer installation services to Hyundai’s Kona and future Ioniq5 EV customers.
Hyundai India has announced its partnership with Tata Power to help upgrade its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and offer its EV customers complete home charging solutions.
Currently, Hyundai’s existing network of 34 EV dealerships in 29 Indian cities feature 7.2kWh AC chargers, and thus, in an effort to reduce charging time and cater to additional customers, the automaker plans to install 60kWh DC fast chargers across its existing EV dealerships.

Will Hyundai launch more EVs?
Currently, Hyundai only offers the Kona Electric in India, which was launched in 2019, but it has confirmed the launch of its all-electric Ioniq 5 in the second half of 2022, under its Beyond Mobility strategy. Additionally, it will also launch the Kona electric facelift this year, and is developing a mass-market electric vehicle that’s set to be introduced in 2024.
Tata Power partnerships
Over the last two years, Tata Power has partnered with automakers such as MG Motors India and Jaguar Land Rover to boost the charging infrastructure across India. In 2021, it also tied up with HPCL and TVS Motor Company, along with installing 1,000 public EV charging points across the country. The company’s network of chargers can be accessed via its mobile app, which allows customers to navigate, locate, make payments, check live status updates, and pre-book charging station slots.
