Hyundai Creta price, Creta EV launch date, Maruti eVX rival

Spy shots reveal Creta EV’s Ioniq 5-like drive selector and other unique elements.

The Hyundai Creta EV prototype has been seen on test several times now. Now, fresh spy shots have emerged showing the Creta EV prototype’s interior, highlighting some changes over the ICE-powered Creta currently on sale.

  1. Creta EV to go on sale by early 2025
  2. Production to begin by late 2024
  3. Will be based on the Creta facelift

Hyundai Creta EV prototype interior: what’s different?

At first glance, the interior looks identical to the ICE-powered version, but a close look reveals some differences. First up, there’s a full-digital instrument cluster on this prototype that seems completely unique, and is not shared with any other Hyundai model in India.

Additionally, the gear lever is moved from its conventional location on the centre console to the right side of the steering wheel column, similar to the Ioniq 5 EV. This has also left a blanked-out space on the centre console. Apart from these changes, there isn’t any major difference visible. However, do note that this is only a pre-production prototype, and the final production model could have a completely different interior.

Hyundai Creta EV prototype: India launch timeline

The Creta EV prototype that Hyundai is testing is based on the standard Creta currently on sale. But sources tell us that the EV that will eventually go on sale in 2025 will be based on the Creta facelift, which will debut early next year.

The Creta EV will be an arch rival to the upcoming Maruti eVX EV SUV, which expected to go on sale around the same time. The eVX, however, is Maruti’s born-electric vehicle, unlike the Creta EV that will have some common elements with its ICE counterpart and will not sit on a separate EV platform.
