Rajshri Productions was gearing up for the release of Nadiya Ke Paar. During this time, Raj Kumar Barjatya was struggling with debts and decided to pause the shooting.

Rajshri Productions has contributed immensely to Bollywood by producing great mass entertainers over the decades. It is credited with having shaped the careers of many actors including Salman Khan. As per reports, it was on the advice of an actress to the owner Raj Kumar Barjatya that the production house emerged to be one of the biggest in Bollywood.

While Rajshri Productions is a big name and quite successful now, this was not the case in the 1980s. Reportedly, it was facing a challenging period and was on the verge of closure. However, it was with the help of an actress’ advice that Barjatya took a crucial step that transformed the destiny of the production house.

Rajshri Productions was founded in 1947 by Tarachand Barjatya. Over time, it backed movies like Dosti, Aarti, Uphaar, Piya Ka Ghar, Geet Gaata Chal, Saudagar, Chitchor, Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye and Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhe Se. But in the 1980s, it faced some challenges.

Rajshri Productions was gearing up for the release of Nadiya Ke Paar. During this time, Raj Kumar Barjatya was struggling with debts and decided to pause the shoot of the movie. But it was on actress Sadhna Singh’s advice that the shooting was continued and finally released in 1982. The movie emerged as a blockbuster hit and won the hearts of the audience with its storyline and soulful songs. As the movie propelled to greater heights, Rajshri Productions was saved.

Rajshri Productions played a crucial role in making a romantic hero persona of Salman Khan during the late 80s and through the 90s. Salman Khan made quite the impression in movies like Maine Pyar Kiya opposite Bhagyashree in 1989, Hum Aapke Hain Koun opposite Madhuri Dixit in 1994 and Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1999 featuring a cast ensemble starring Karisma Kapoor, Sonali Bendre, Tabu, Saif Ali Khan and many others.

The production house recently backed the film Dono, which has gained the spotlight for featuring a debut director and star cast as well. Dono stars Bollywood actor Sunny Deol’s younger son, Rajveer Deol and actress Poonam Dhillon’s daughter Paloma as debut actors. The movie, released on October 5, is directed by ace filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya’s son, Avnish Barjatya. Dono has been getting a mixed response with critics appreciating the storyline and acting.
