Honda recently filed a patent for a new 110cc scooter, called the Scoopy.

Honda files a patent for a new 110cc scooter called the Honda Scoopy, popular in Asian markets.

Honda has been filing a lot of patents in our country for various motorcycles lately and we recently found out that a patent for the Honda Scoopy has been filed as well. The Honda Scoopy is a staple of Honda’s Asian lineup and Honda has been on the fence about getting it to India as well, for a while now.

The Scoopy features a very funky retro design language that is sure to catch eyeballs. The Scooter features a large oval LED headlamp mounted on the apron, along with turn indicators on either side. The body of the Scoopy features smooth, well-fitting panels coupled with a long spacious seat. The tail section houses a round brake lamp flanked by turn indicators.

The Scoopy features a large semi-digital instrument cluster, projector headlamp, USB charger, and a Smart Key System. The Scoopy’s smart key system includes call back, keyless ignition, and anti-theft functionality. Adding to its practicality are the 15.4 litres of under-seat storage and the multi-function hook mounted in the footwell.

The Scoopy sold in international markets is powered by a 109.5cc engine producing 9hp and 9.5Nm of torque. It is suspended by a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The Scoopy gets 12-inch alloy wheels with a disc brake at the front and a drum at the rear, aided by Honda’s Combi braking system.

The Scoopy, if launched in India, would go up against the likes of the Yamaha Fascino as well as the Activa from Honda’s very own stable. While Honda has already been spotted road testing this scooter in 2017, an India launch is not yet guaranteed.

The Scoopy range starts at Rp. 20,475,000(Rs 1.08 lakh) in Indonesia and goes upto Rp. 21,275,000 (Rs1.12 lakh).

Would you consider the Scoopy as your daily, in case of an India launch?
