Honda commences SP125 exports to Australia, New Zealand

The SP125 will be sold as the Honda CB125F in these markets.

Honda has begun exporting the SP125 commuter motorcycle to New Zealand and Australia. A shipment carrying around 250 units of the SP125, manufactured at Honda’s Tapukara Plant in Rajasthan, was dispatched earlier this month.

“This development marks a step towards HMSI’s long term plans to expand production capabilities in India that serve globally,” said Atsushi Ogata, MD, president and CEO, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI).

HMSI, which began exporting made-in-India products in 2001 with the Activa, currently ships 19 two-wheeler models to 38 markets. Between April and June 2022, the company exported a total of 1,02,653 two-wheelers, which is a 25 percent increase over the previous year’s 82,394 units.

The SP125 is powered by a 10.7hp, 10.9Nm, 124cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The SP125 boasts of features such as a silent starter, fully digital instrumentation, range indicator, average fuel efficiency, side-stand cut-off, LED headlamp, engine start/stop tech, eco indicator and gear position indicator.

The SP125 is available in two variants and is priced at Rs 82,486 (drum) and Rs 86,486 (240mm disc). Both have CBS (Combined Braking System) and a 130mm rear drum.

All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
