Hero Maestro Xoom 110cc scooter being readied for launch

Hero has trademarked the name in India for its upcoming Honda Activa rivalling scooter.

Hero is gearing up to introduce a new trim to its Maestro scooter line-up, named the Maestro Xoom. The company has already trademarked the ‘Maestro Xoom’ name in India, and teased the scooter in a presentation at a dealer event.

The teasers reveal a few key details about the upcoming scooter. First up, it will be powered by a 110cc engine, becoming Hero’s third 110cc offering after the Pleasure+ and the Maestro Edge 110 scooters. Although specifications are yet to be confirmed, we expect the Maestro Xoom to be identical to the other 110cc Hero scooters in terms of output – 8hp and 8.7Nm. The Maestro Xoom will also come equipped with Hero’s i3s fuel-saving technology.

A few design details can also be spotted, despite the manufacturer only showing a silhoutte of the scooter. When viewed in profile, the new Maestro Xoom appears quite similar to the Maestro Edge 110, however, the differences become more apparent when you view the Xoom head on. The Maestro Xoom gets a completely redesigned front fascia that looks more angular than the one on the Maestro Edge. Hero has positioned the Xoom’s headlight unit on the apron, and not on the handlebar shroud, like it is on the other two Maestro models. The headlight itself is an LED unit and features an X-shaped DRL, which is likely akin to its name. And like the headlight, the tail-light too gets an X-shaped element.

In terms of features, the presentation revealed that the Maestro Xoom will come equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, a cornering headlamp function and 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends (Edge 110 gets 10-inch rear). Expect more details of the scooter to filter through in due course.

Hero’s current Maestro line-up ranges from Rs 66,820 for the entry-level Edge 110 to Rs 85,948 for the top-spec Edge 125 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Expect the new Maestro Xoom to be priced somewhere between these two models. Apart from the Xoom, Hero is also working on a sporty, 125cc scooter that will rival the likes of the TVS Ntorq and Suzuki Avenis.

Would you pick the upcoming Maestro Xoom over established players like the Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter? Let us know in the comments.
